Son of the Grand Prince of Kyiv Yaroslav the Wise. Born between 1033/1036 (according to the Nikon chronicle – in 1033, to the Hipatian chronicle – in 1036, and according to V. Tatischev – in 1034), died in 1057. The baptismal name of Mercury is identified by his seal. Prince of Smolensk (1054–1057). It is probable that Oda von Stade was his wife and not of Volodymyr Yaroslavych.
