Saint Kuksha (birth place and date unknown – 1113) – enlightener of the Viatichi, monk of the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery.
Monk (hieromonk) of the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery. Propagated Christianity among the Viatichi tribe, at the River Oka. In 1113 (according to other information – in the second half of the 12 th c.) was killed by local pagans, instigated by their priests. Buried in the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery.
According to the Kyiv-Pechersk Paterikon, at the time of Kuksha’s death a miracle happened in Kyiv: the Pechersk monk Pimen the Faster, who had a gift of prophecy, foresaw the day of Kuksha’s death and died himself on the same day.
